Bought Samsung LN52A650 in February. Noticed a lot of clouding. I have had 3 service centers out and they told me it was normal. It is way to obvious to be normal. Took pictures and called Samsung for escalation process. They are reviewing it. Samsung uses 3 different panels. Samsung's S-PVA panel, the best quality (if you're lucky).
A-MVA panel from Taiwan's AUO (a notch worse than S-PVA).
Chinese company Chi Mei's S-MVA panel (worst of the three). I hope I get a panel replacement and I hope it is a good Samsung one.

[...] att tv:ns bakgrundsbelysning var för lågt ställd. Då alla LCD-tvapparater lider av så kallad clouding i varierande mån, hade jag för att minska detta dragit ner bakgrundsbelysningen till ett minimum. [...]

I have had and have been using an American Express Card for many years. yet I'm not receiving any of these "benefits" yet I continue to pay annually $150. Why shouldn't I be receiving these benefits?

I have the same TV and the trick is to use 480i instead of 480p, I know, sounds totally wrong, but apparently, the TV has a inner scaler that makes a better job upscaling the purest image, in this case 480i, since 480p is already converted by the Wii, the TV does a crappy job with it, so using component cables and 480i, you'll notice quite a difference, even if you are close to the display.

Just purchased this TV this past weekend from Costco for $799. Replaced my Phillips plasma that had problems after 2.5 yrs and Costco repalced no questions asked. Set up was aprox 10min and the picture quality is just as good as my former plasma. I agree that the glare from the black glossy frame can be irritating at times when the light hits it just right, but if your enjoying your movie...you don't notice it. Great Buy for the $ easy set up a plus

Purchased a Samsung LN46A650 and a Samsung LN52A850. The 46 is perfect in every way. The 52 has severe "clouding" or "flash-lighting" I cannot look at the screen. Called Samsung, Tech knows all about it but customer service does't. Repair team says their tech reps are telling them it's okay! They're coming out to see for themselves. These anomlies are unacceptable. Will keep you up to date.
